A Query [21 Jan 2008|03:15pm]

[ mood | curious ]

Would anyone be interested if someone were to, say, start up a free-form game for Dymphna's characters taking place a few years after the end of the game?

Update [19 Jul 2006|10:35pm]

Hey Guys!

This is just a brief update to let you know what's going on with the Dymphna characters right now. More information should be coming this weekend.

School is officially done for the summer; those who are old enough to graduate have done so. Anyone still interested in playing their Dymphna character in Shiver can assume that they're a part of the VFD and are living on the island. If you're someone who still wants to play, but haven't talked to DP about switching over your character, you should do so. Also let DP know if you want to switch from the Dymphna usergroup to the Shiver one.

For now, anyone who's set up to do so is free to play in Erasmus and more details about what's going on will be posted soon.

Hey guys,

We've been trying to get a handle on what people want to do with Dymphna's as we approach summer. It doesn't seem like there's been a lot of interest in keeping the school section of the game open, but we're willing to leave the boards up indefinitely if that's what you guys want.

Please just take a minute to fill out this quick poll and let us know what you guys would like to do! Thanks!

What would you like to do with your St. Dymphna character?

Move them to St. Erasmus
Keep playing in St. Dymphna's
Retire them
Something else

Do you have any other questions or concerns?

ETA: There will definitely be an in-game reason to move characters to St. Erasmus. We will also definitely give you guys a chance to play out the end of the school year, a final school dance, the kids all going home, and anything else.

End of Western Storyline! [28 Apr 2006|11:04pm]

Hey, guys!

We are going to be wrapping up the Wild West storyline in approximately a month, and when we do, we'll be going back to the 1600s setting.

Things are going to be changing a bit for St. Dymphna's, so we wanted to tell you what's going on.

We will be playing out end-of-the-year festivities at the school, then jumping to the summer. We aren't sure, though, whether you guys would like us to continue running the school come fall. Some of the characters will be able to move permanently to St. Erasmus if you would like them to, so if you'd prefer to just keep the characters in Shiver, we can set that up.

If any of you would prefer to drop your Dymphna character and come up with a new Shiver character, you're welcome to do that, too. You can play an older adult if you'd like, or we will definitely have places for younger characters if you'd rather continue to play kids.

If any of you have any questions about this, preferences for how to handle the transition, or ideas for upcoming storylines, please let us know!

Hey guys,

We put up a post in the Shiver livejournal asking if anybody had ideas for Western stuff to do during the new storyline. If you'd like to suggest anything, please mosey on over there! Thanks!

'Angst! Action! Romance! Drama! Balthazar in a dress!' [02 Feb 2006|12:52am]

Bet that header got your attention, eh?

So. Do you remember the time Alie cried ‘Swagglefest 2005’, declared that she was ‘whoring Balthazar out’ and invited everyone to do scenes?

This was a scene. It isn’t one anymore, but it was one, way back when. Around last September, in fact, was when we embarked on what we did not realise would become a very, er, Epic saga. To date, it spans 28 pages in MSWord, folders on harddrives around the world (boy does that sound dramatic)… and that’s not even including the sequel.

It is a labour of love. Of love, and angst; endless patience on both our parts – Liz’s in that she endured Alie’s lewdness; Alie’s in that she endured the fact that Liz Is A Prude which she is not – and a lot of ranting. A LOT of ranting.

It is also entirely cracked.

As we enjoy causing you pain know the value of a little suspense, we are going to post one chapter at a time in the community (whose layout, of course, you shall admire for hours on end). The hope is that by the time we’ve got to the later parts, we’ll actually have written them, but you don’t know that. All you know is that there is this wonderfully exciting story, that, as proved by the heading, should appeal to all audiences - well, unless you're a prude like Liz. Then maybe reading it isn't such a hot idea. There's innuendo in there. And stuff. Yeah. But anyway.
You need to read it

There's no way you can enjoy it as much as we enjoyed writing it (yes, Liz did enjoy it too, mostly), but we do hope you have fun.

Yours in the most deranged manner possible,
Alie and Liz.

P.S. The extreme liberties taken with History, and the sins commited against it, are Totally Not Our Fault.

New Storyline! (Cross-posted to shivermytimber [31 Jan 2006|04:07pm]

Hey, all!

In case for some reason you've missed it, we will be wrapping up the new storyline and jumping very soon (most likely tonight!).

To play in the spring storyline in Shiver and Dymphna's, you need to submit a new character blurb in this forum. There are plenty of posts there explaining what is going on, but in case you've been totally out of the loop, the game is going to be taking place in a Wild West setting instead of a colonial setting for a few months.

If you have any questions or need help, please PM Divine Providence, IM one of us, or just ask here!

Sorry to bombard you guys with polls, but we're trying to get the basics of this figured out and we'd rather know for sure what you guys want to do before we post details on the board for everyone.

The next storylineCollapse )

The possible scenariosCollapse )

So essentially: Things will change for the spring, but everything will go back to normal at the end of the western storyline.

The Poll - please vote!Collapse )

Edit: And just to clear things up, because somebody was smart and mentioned this: At the end of the Western storyline, we will jump back to the normal Dymphna world. You guys will still get to play out final exams, the year-end school dance, and graduation with the regular characters just like you would have otherwise, and then we'll segueway directly into the summer programs.

Hey guys --

We've been tossing around ideas recently about what to do with St. Dymphna's after the current school year ends. There are a lot of characters right on the verge of graduating, and the game has also slowed down a ton. We have something pretty neat planned for the next storyline that is going to change things up a bit, but we also wanted to see what you all would rather do for the summer and fall.

If you guys have a minute, could you please fill out the poll behind the lj-cut? If you have any specific ideas for what you'd like to do with your character, please let us know in an lj comment! We're willing to do anything, whether it's keeping the game open indefinitely or coming up with a way to move a bunch of characters over to St. Erasmus for the long term.

Please take the time to fill out this poll!Collapse )

Hey, everyone! Here’s what’s going on in Dymphna’s after the time jump.

Exams are thankfully over, and the school has invited a variety of magic users and experts to lecture the students on the more unique kinds of magic in the world. Petaurus and Arvensis are gearing up to face each other in a Quidditch match and there are rumors that the school has been trying to get a hold of a printing press so that a school newspaper can be set up.

We’re working on setting up a storyline, so be sure to PM the Registrar if you want your character to be heavily involved with that!

Hey everyone!

Silvestris and Arvensis are still short players for their Quidditch teams. If there's anyone who didn't have a chance to sign-up their character for try-outs and would like to be considered for one of those houses' teams, please PM The Registrar with the name of the character, their house, and what position they would have tried out for!

Question! Important! (Or slightly, anyway.) [04 Nov 2005|04:06pm]
Hi hi, Dymphnarians.

I have a question about the costume contest storyline...

You see, I have an arm injury and have to limit my computer use lately, but I really want to play Zef at the costume thing, especially since it's his birthday on Halloween. (Gyahahahaaa. *cough*)

Anyway, I checked and so far it's still on Sunday the 30th, but does anyone know when in real time the party will commence?

Then I'll know when to get on. Thanks in advance!

We have go! [19 Oct 2005|11:53pm]

The board is back up and working now, and haruspexy and I have been upgrading everything so you will see some changes!

All your posts and profile information should be saved. There are still a few new graphics that need to be uploaded to make everything match, but everything should be in working order.

If anything appears to be broken-- if something gives you an error, or if an avatar is missing, or anything like that, please let us know-- you can PM Divine Providence, IM one of us, or reply here, and we'll get on it as soon as we can.

Thanks for your patience!

Hey, guys--

Our server just did some upgrades and they accidentally upgraded to a version of mySQL that doesn't support our board software.

I talked to them on the phone and they'r going to fix it as soon as possible, but it might be a few hours.

Thanks for your patience!

Hey all!

As everyone has probably noticed, St. Dymphna's now has a shiny new town for the students to visit. If you've been in the game for four months and are interested in picking up an NPC to play there, please run your idea past Divine Providence first and fill out the form once they've given you the go ahead.

Just out of curiousity, would anyone be willing or eager to have their character change houses?

Also, just in case anyone hasn't seen it, we're doing a census of the game! Please take a moment to reply over PM and let us know for certain which characters you're still interested in playing!

Hello [26 Aug 2005|01:54pm]
Hi I didn't really introduce myself so I just thought I would I'm Achiles (I know it's spelled wrong) and I play Henry Black, so I just thought I'd say hi, even though it's sorta been delayed.
